Board of Ed. Contractor Pleads Guilty to Fraud
By Jon Whiten • Dec 23rd, 2008 • Category: BlogThe president of Circle System Group Inc., which refurbishes sports equipment for many school districts in the state, pleaded guilty yesterday to a count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud before a U.S. District Judge. David Drill admitted to submitting phony quotes and giving gifts to purchasing agents in return for business. He faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced, according to the Star-Ledger. Prosecutors declined to say which schools were involved, nor would they talk about the extent and nature of the payoffs.
The Circle System Group has contracted with the Jersey City Board of Education in the past. In April of last year, for instance, the BOE paid Circle $60,789.73 for services rendered, as shown in this document.
