More Results Come In & the Race Shapes Up

Just before 9 pm here in Jersey City, results continue to come in.

In the mayoral race, with just over 20,000 votes in, Healy has 53.7 percent of the vote, with his closest challenger, Manzo, at 26.3 percent.

The At-Large race is beginning to look runoff-friendly, with all three incumbents having less than 20 percent of the vote each. All of Manzo’s At-Large candidates have around 9 percent each, while Levin and Smith’s have around 3 percent.

In the wards:

A is looking tough, with incumbent Michael Sottolano, at 35 percent, running about 10 percentage points ahead of both independent candidate Andre Richardson and Manzo candidate Rolando Lavarro. Smith candidate Frances Thompson is only another 10 percentage points off the lead.

In B, C and D, Team Healy candidates (Kenny, Lopez, Gaughan) are all currently ahead and all just over the 50 percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff.

In E, it looks as if Fulop will win on the first ballot, avoiding a runoff with Team Healy candidate Guy Catrillo. With more than 3,500 votes in, Fulop is at 61.4 percent.

F, on the other hand, looks like it could head to a runoff. Richardson is in the lead, but she only has 39.4 percent of the vote. Her problem? Four other candidates (Barbour, Clar, Hart and Webb-Washington) have more than 10 percent of the vote also.
