These drums of chromium waste have rusted and eroded on a site that was under an NJDEP cleanup order for twenty years. The drums were only cleaned up when the neighboors brought attention to it. The new deal between NJDEP, PPG and the City is suppose to get the rest of the chromium (tens of thousand of tons of chromium) from these sites cleaned up in five years. That won't happen unless the neighbors keep paying attention and pointing out what should be obvious to our willfully deaf, dumb and blind public officials.
