Boston Alt-Weekly: Screaming Females is the Best Emerging Band in New Jersey

And so the buzz for New Brunswick’s latest band to come up from the basements gets louder. Each year, the Boston Phoenix celebrates the 4th of July by declaring the best “emerging” band from each state (for those so inclined, you can see how they decide such things). This year, the alt-weekly has dubbed the excellent Screaming Females as the Garden State’s finest.
We can’t say we wholeheartedly disagree with the Phoenix on this one; the Females are pretty great. However, using their definition of “emerging” (see link above), there are at least several other excellent bands that could have taken the top spot. What do you think?
