No Cars Go: Fourth of July Street Closings

By Jon Whiten • Jul 2nd, 2009 • Category: Blog, News

The Jersey City Police Department says the following stretches of roadways (the red areas on the map) will be closed on Saturday, July 4 beginning at 6 pm.

  • All streets South of Montgomery Street and East of Marin Boulevard.
  • All streets North of Christopher Columbus Drive and East of Washington Street/Boulevard.

JCPD will have officers posted who will be checking IDs to those trying to drive in, so make sure you have something with your current address on it if you have an older license. If you have guests coming by car, be sure they get there before 6 pm.

Even without these street closures, we’d have to make the obvious point: Mass transit is clearly the way to get to and from Jersey City near the water on the 4th (as if it isn’t everyday). It will be crowded, folks.
