Photos of the Week

By Jon Whiten • Jul 3rd, 2009 • Category: Blog

Avid readers will remember that earlier this week the Independent started running a Flickr feed of photos tagged “Jersey City” on our homepage. In addition, each week we will select a few great shots from those and highlight them in our Photos of the Week. Here’s the first batch — enjoy. (If you don’t use Flickr but want to have your pics considered, you can email them to us — info (at) jerseycityindependent.com).

This shot did not travel through time from tomorrow’s 4th celebration — it’s last weekend’s Pride fireworks, captured from a downtown high-rise by Steve Kelley.

This behind-the-scenes photo of people preparing for last week’s Philippine American Friendship Day Parade was the best of a whole bunch of good pics taken by Richard M. Reyes.

This abstract look at the clouds was shot on an iPhone on Monday by Flickr user RezNyce.

This closeup of a flower was shot by Jersey City’s JJ.

This mural was shot last weekend by Dave Cook of Eating in Translation. He says he’s “reasonably certain that the auto-body shop sits on the corner of West Side and Sip Avenues.”
