TODAY
- Many of you office-dwellers have the day off, so why not take the opportunity to stop by the Creative Grove market if you haven’t gone yet? It’s at the Grove Street PATH plaza from 2-8 pm.
- The For the Love of Music folks are putting on an open mic tonight at Grand Banks (75 Montgomery St.). It starts at 8 pm.
- Just down the street, The Amboys, Dan Maxwell & His Band, Maybe Pete and Dirty Wings will be at IM Automata Chino (99 Greene St.).
SATURDAY
- It’s going to be a crowded 4th of July in Jersey City, what with Macy’s moving its annual fireworks show over to the Hudson and all. If you’re hoping to check them out, get down to Owen Grundy Pier at Exchange Place or up to Riverview Park in the Heights early and snag a spot.
- Jersey City also has its own Independence Day celebration, with live music all day (starting at 2 pm) and fireworks at 9 pm. It’s all next to the historic rail terminal in Liberty State Park.
- Later on, have a nightcap with The Swigs, who’ll be at the Lamp Post (382 2nd St.) around 10 pm.
SUNDAY
- Today marks the first Sunday for a new show at Curious Matter (272 5th St.). Arthur Bruso’s new exhibition of photographs and constructions — “A Lesser Doxology” — touches on the “sense of the eternal, and our perpetual search to find meaning and elegance in a patient universe.”
