This Weekend’s Best Bets
By Jon Whiten • Sep 11th, 2009 • Category: Arts, BlogIt’s a jam-packed fall weekend here in Chilltown. Here are some highlights, but be sure to check out our calendar for the full rundown.
Today, we’ve got the quarterly JC Fridays extravaganza to keep you folks busy. Check the JC Fridays site for full listings, but be sure to swing by a special Groove on Grove (they’ll have a tent for the rain), the grand opening of The Warehouse in the PAD and the craft beer festival at the Star Bar on Wayne Street.
Saturday is festivalicious, with the Jersey City Free Public Library’s second annual book festival happening in Van Vorst Park, the Riverview Neighborhood Association’s annual flea market and park festival taking place up in the Heights, and the Powerhouse Arts Festival going down in the PAD. Live music abounds in the evening, with shows at Made With Love, the Iron Monkey and the Lamp Post. If you’re feeling more visual than aural, there’s also a film screening of Sophisticated Romance and director meet-and-greet going on at the Stockinette and Bred in Jersey.
Sunday is a perfect day to kick back and enjoy some comfort food — especially if this weather keeps up — so there’s no better time for the Macaroni & Cheese Bake-Off fundraiser being held at 58 Gallery to benefit the 4th Street Arts & Music Festival.
