DPW Director Will Serve in ‘Acting’ Capacity
By Shane Smith • Sep 23rd, 2009 • Category: Blog, NewsAlthough seven of the city’s eight department directors will be reappointed to their positions by resolutions at tonight’s City Council meeting, Department of Public Works director John Yurchak is left off the list. Although he is not being reappointed, Mayor Healy stated yesterday via email that “Director Yurchak will be serving in an ‘Acting’ capacity.”
Reached by phone this morning, Yurchak told JCI that the change in his status was news to him. “I wasn’t aware of [the mayor's statement],” he said. Yurchak did not wish to comment on whether he was planning to leave his position or remain for the mayor’s full term.
