Another One Bites the Dust: LaVern Webb-Washington Pleads Guilty
By Jon Whiten • Oct 8th, 2009 • Category: Blog, News, Politics
LaVern Webb-Washington, a housing activist who often made her presence felt at City Council meetings, pleaded guilty today in federal court to taking $15,000 from a purported developer in exchange for potential political favors. Webb-Washington ran unsuccessfully for the Ward F council seat this spring. ELEC reports show the cash she obtained from the “developer” was funneled to her campaign in the form of a personal loan from herself to the campaign.
She is the seventh person to plead guilty in the massive federal corruption probe, and she’ll be sentenced in January.
