Conan O’Brien Drags Jersey City Into Feud With Cory Booker

If you haven’t heard by now, two weeks ago, Conan O’Brien dissed Newark in a joke in his monologue, and Newark mayor responded with a YouTube video banning O’Brien from Newark Airport. After a few back-and-forths over the next handful of days, Booker claimed he had banned the comedian from New Jersey altogether.

But last night, O’Brien produced a letter from Elizabeth mayor Christian Bollwage that not only offered O’Brien safe haven but offered to name the one Newark Airport terminal that’s actually in Elizabeth after him. And that’s where Jersey City comes in.

Bollwage’s come-on to Conan led him to declare: “Mayor Booker, now that I’ve established a beachhead, I’m going to begin my campaign to surround and crush you. And here’s how I’ll do it. I’ll do it by shamelessly sucking up to your municipalities … [like] Jersey City, home of the Holland Motor Lounge, which user Chris P. described as having ‘a good location.’ Way to go, Jersey City!”
