- The state Office of Attorney Ethics has recommended that Mayor Jerramiah Healy’s law license be suspended or that he face other disciplinary action because of his disorderly persons convictions after his 2006 dustup in Bradley Beach.

- Saying he is “one embarrassment after another,” the Journal once again calls for At-Large councilman Mariano Vega* to resign; something the daily and JCI have both been calling for since Vega*’s initial arrest on federal corruption charges in July.

- Despite residents’ complaints, the mobile post office — which replaced a full-service branch that closed down in 2007 — will not return to Lafayette.

- A 32-year-old Jersey City man
has been charged with the murder of a man who was shot last weekend outside a Communipaw Avenue bar.

- The Insider says that Hudson County Democrats will have to go through state Sen. Sandra Cunningham if they want to reach out to governor-elect Chris Christie. Cunningham was named to Christie’s transition team last week.

- Hudson County is outfitting Lincoln Park with security cameras and, in a first for county parks, wifi internet access. The project is expected to cost about $350,000.

- A new report finds that Hudson County’s firefighters were the busiest in the state in 2008; the county also has the fewest female firefighters.

- Jersey City’s assistant municipal comptroller was arrested last Friday and charged with engaging in sexually explicit internet chat with what he believed were children.

- Jersey City firefighter Michael Harris
was a victim of what officials are calling a bias crime at his home in Ocean County’s Manchester Township.

- Ellis Island’s immigration museum was briefly evacuated over the weekend due to a “suspicious powder” that was eventually determined to be non-hazardous.

- Toll collectors say a wild turkey has been running across the toll booth at Jersey City’s Interchange 14B on the Turnpike for weeks. One motorist called the Turnpike Authority to complain because she has seen the bird since the summer.

- The New York Times calls the Krave truck, which is often parked outside the Grove Street PATH stop during evening rush hours, “one of the more interesting takes on barbecue” in New Jersey.

- Former Hudson County Improvement Authority enforcement officer Harry Aceti has been sentenced to four years probation, 50 hours community service and will have to pay a $5,000 fine for promoting gambling.

- The Heights is a hot ‘hood, according to the Daily News.

- The Times unearths a parody web ad being run by the LeFraks to get New Yorkers to move to Newport.

- A 9-year-old Jersey City boy has been named 2009′s Cutest Vegetarian Kid by PETA.

In statewide news:

- Lawmakers say a series of proposed changes to the state’s “one handgun a month” law will be considered during the lame duck session.

- Gov. Corzine has declared states of emergency in six New Jersey counties battered by the recent nor’easter, one of the most damaging coastal storms in state history.

- The big question on everyone’s minds: Can governor-elect Christie corral property taxes? The Record takes a look. Meanwhile, Christie Christie is seeking ideas and proposals from businesses and others about how to reduce regulations to help make the economy more efficient.

- Assembly Majority Leader Bonnie Watson Coleman plans to introduce a six-bill legislative package to help prisoners integrate back into society.

- State Sen. Paul Sarlo says he won’t bring a bill legalizing same-sex marriage to the Judiciary Committee he chairs unless enough votes exist to pass it on to the full Senate.
