Get your theater on this afternoon at the Jersey City Museum, where Daisy Nelson Century takes on the role of Sojourner Truth in Ain’t I a Woman?. And tonight at 8 p.m. take in the classic Chaplin black comedy Monsieur Verdoux at the Loew’s. For live music, you’ve got several excellent options tonight: Folkie Chuck Brodsky will be at the Brennan Coffee House at 7:30 pm, and Con Vivo Jersey City is playing a free show inside Kanibal Home on Montgomery Street at 8 pm
SATURDAY
Artist Kendall Messick’s Impermanence, an exploration of recovering from loss, opens Saturday at 1129 Summit Ave. And check out punk acts Subway Surfers and Jukebox Zeros at the Lamp Post.
SUNDAY
Celebrate the 80th birthday of the Bob Balfour Memorial Wonder Morton — also known as the Loew’s Jersey’s historic organ — with a concert by Greg Owen, followed by Owen’s accompaniment to a Laurel & Hardy silent short. Later on, stop by ArtHouse for another kind of “look back” with the drama-documentary-animation hybrid The Age of Stupid.
