Cancer Institute Seeks Local African-American Women for Breast Cancer Study
By Jon Whiten • Dec 24th, 2009 • Category: BlogThe Cancer Institute of New Jersey is looking for women to participate in a study about breast cancer in African-American women and why it is diagnosed earlier and acts more aggressively than it does in white women.
The study, which also involves the state Department of Health, UMDNJ’s public health school and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, is looking for African-American women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer within the past nine months and who live in Hudson, Essex, Bergen, Passaic, Union, Middlesex or Mercer counties. The study is also looking for African-American women without a history of cancer are needed.
Participants will have a private, confidential interview lasting about two hours, for which they will receive a $50 gift card.
