How to Throw Out Your Christmas Trees in Jersey City

OK so now we’re into 2010, and maybe you’ve already taken down that Christmas tree — or, if you’re like me, maybe you’re planning to real soon. Be sure not to just toss the tree out with the garbage; the Jersey City Incinerator Authority (JCIA) has specific dates it will pick up the trees.

The JCIA will only pick up discarded trees with Thursday garbage collections on Jan. 7, Jan. 14, Jan. 21 and Jan. 28. All trees must be free of ornaments and/or lights, and please folks — don’t put the tree in a garbage bag.

If you’ve got smaller items like wreaths or you want to toss your fake plastic trees, just throw them out with your regular garbage.

For more info, call the JCIA at 201-432-4645, ext. 620.
