Another Furlough Day Will Close City Government Friday
By Jon Whiten • Jan 13th, 2010 • Category: Blog, NewsOn Friday, Jan. 15, all city workers will be forced to take another furlough day as part of the administration’s efforts to rein in its budget deficit. The move will close all city offices on Friday, with the exception of the police and fire departments.
In addition, autonomous agencies like the Parking Authority or the Municipal Utilities Authority will not close, and in the event of a snow emergency, streets will still be plowed. Street sweeping and garbage pick-up schedules will remain the same.
Here’s the schedule for the remaining furlough days, which will run through June.
The following city offices will be closed on these days:
Friday, Jan. 15, 2010: Administration; City Clerk; Health & Human Services; Housing, Economic Development & Commerce; Mayor’s Office; Public Works; Tax Assessor; Law Department; Municipal Courts; Recreation Department
Friday, Jan. 22, 2010: Administration; City Clerk; Health & Human Services; Housing, Economic Development & Commerce; Mayor’s Office; Public Works; Tax Assessor; Law Department; Municipal Courts
Friday, Feb. 5, 2010: Administration; City Clerk; Health & Human Services; Housing, Economic Development & Commerce; Mayor’s Office; Public Works; Tax Assessor; Law Department; Municipal Courts; Recreation Department
Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010: Recreation Department
Friday, Feb. 19, 2010: Law Department; Municipal Courts
Monday, Feb. 22, 2010: Administration; City Clerk; Health & Human Services; Housing, Economic Development & Commerce; Mayor’s Office; Public Works; Tax Assessor
