Workshop for Residents Living Near PPG Chromium Sites Set for Thursday

Do you live within 400 feet of one of PPG’s chromium-contaminated sites in Jersey City? (Not sure? Check the sites here.) Are you worries about chromium contamination in your home?
If so, you should head to Thursday’s workshop being put together by the city, the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and PPG (known collectively these days as the Chromium Cleanup Partnership), where they will discuss a program that will allow residents living near the sites to have their homes inspected for contamination. (All homes south of Bramhall Avenue, west of Halladay Street, east of Ocean Avenue and north of Bayview Avenue in Jersey City are also eligible for the program.)
The Residential Inspection Workshop is Thursday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 pm, at the Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center (140 Martin Luther King Drive). It will be led by Mike McCabe, the court-appointed site administrator for the chromium cleanups, and representatives from the DEP, the city and PPG will be on hand to explain details of the program and answer questions.
