Jersey City Photographer, Back from Haiti, Shares His Work

By • Jan 26th, 2010 • Category: Arts, Blog, News

Simon Biswas, whose name you might recognize from the pages of NEW magazine, headed down to Haiti three days after the Jan. 12 earthquake that has devastated that country, killing at least 150,000 people so far. He is back in the U.S. now, and has put together “a distilled portion” of what he saw in Port Au Prince as the multimedia piece below.

“The situation on the ground is far too massive to be told by a single camera lens,” he writes of the piece. “I hope to show at least some of what is happening there.”

And we should warn you: there are some graphic images in here.

Personal Jesus huh? Reach out and touch me. Where was God when children were being crushed by the thousands? I thought God was suppose to be merciful? I wonder how many people were buried under buildings but still alive in horrible pain dying of thirst and begging for death and it came ever so slowly. I still can’t believe in the year 2010 people still pray to statues and look up at the sky thinking there is someone up there that is going to make everything alright. Pathetic. Great coverage by the way and I do love that songs original version by Depech Mode.
