HCCC Launches ‘Subscription Dining’ Series for the Public

The Hudson County Community College (HCCC) is rolling out a Subscription Dining Series that will feature eight distinct four-course luncheons for four people on Fridays this spring. The total cost of the subscription is $995, or $31.10 per person per meal.

The menus — which will be planned and prepared by the executive chef and team of culinary professionals who teach at HCCC’s renowned Culinary Arts Institute (CAI) — will include soup, appetizer, entrée and dessert courses as well as non-alcoholic beverages. (Beer, wine and cocktails will be available at an additional charge.) All meals will be served by the CAI’s student staff in the Banquet Room of the HCCC Culinary Arts Institute/Conference Center in Journal Square (161 Newkirk St.).

Proceeds from the program will go towards the HCCC foundation, which develops needs-based and merit scholarships for students. This past year, the foundation awarded 100 scholarships totaling more than $150,000.

Joseph Sansone, HCCC’s vice president for development, says the program sprang out of conversations he’s had with local businesspeople, who said they’d like to have more luncheon dining options, particularly ones where they could take clients or business associates.

“I cannot think of many places in this area where you can enjoy a delicious, four-course meal, meticulously served in an elegant and comfortable setting for just $31.10 a person,” he says in a statement. “Best of all, you will know that your subscription tab — which is also a tax-exempt donation — will assist in financing the education of deserving students.”

The first luncheon is slated for Friday, Feb. 12, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, with additional dates following on Feb. 26; March 5, 12 and 26; and April 16, 23 and 30.
