REMINDER: Deadline for NEW Cover Contest Rapidly Approaching

By • Mar 4th, 2010 • Category: Arts, Blog, News

We’ve already received some great submissions to the NEW Magazine cover contest, but the contest isn’t quite over yet — you’ve got a few more days to enter. We’re extending the deadline by two days, to Monday, March 8. So send in those entries!

Here’s how it works:

Any artist living or working in Jersey City can submit work of any kind for the contest. Prior to each issue’s publication, we will choose which one to feature on the cover. That person will receive a modest cash reward, as well as credit and a short biographical writeup in the magazine. In return, the winner agrees to donate the original work to us, and at the end of the year, we will auction off the year’s covers and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to a different local nonprofit each year.

You can enter the contest at any time, but to be considered for the Spring/Summer 2010 issue, we need your submission the end of the day on Monday, March 8.

To apply, download and sign this form (digital signature is OK), and email it along with your entry to Jon Whiten at jwhiten (at) gmail.com.

While the trim size of the NEW cover is 6.25″ x 8.25″, we will accept work of all sizes and dimensions, with the acknowledgment that the cover may only feature a portion of the work if necessary (to be mutually agreed upon by us and the winning artist). In addition, you should understand that we will continue to feature our logo, tagline and other potential editorial information on the cover as well.

For more information, call us at 201-420-8594 or email Jon Whiten at jwhiten (at) gmail.com.
