Restaurant Roundup: Maritime Parc Coming to LSP, White Star Looking Outdoors

Chef Chris Siversen, a NYC restaurant veteran who was formerly the executive chef of The Glazier Group and who has cooked for Martha Stewart and President Clinton, among others, is opening a new “contemporary restaurant and exceptional event space” in Liberty State Park.
The restaurant, Maritime Parc, will be next to the Liberty House on Audrey Zapp Drive and hopes to open its doors by mid-June.
The expansive 30,000 square foot space was designed by Stephanie Goto, and, as befits its location, will offer panoramic views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty.
The menu will focus on seafood, with an extensive raw bar and entrees like Cast Iron Roasted Mussels with Chorizo and Fennel alongside whole fish preparations meant for sharing that will change daily, based on what is fresh. (The fresh and sustainable angle will extend to the entire menu, with Siversen — the restaurant’s owner as well as its executive chef — sourcing the bulk of his ingredients from farms in New Jersey and New York.) In addition, Maritime Parc will feature non-fish standards like New York strip steak and roasted chicken, as well as a separate bar menu with a burger (served with Duck Fat Fries) for the more casual eater.
Prices will range from $11-15 for appetizers and from $24-32 for main courses. There will be a full
bar inside the restaurant, and outside on the deck. In addition, the restaurant will offer “boat service” delivery to vessels docked at Liberty Landing Marina. The space will also feature plenty of space (two floors’ worth) for private events and dinners — here come the weddings!
White Star Looks Outdoors
Downtown favorite White Star Bar is looking to join some of its neighboring Hamilton Park-area restaurants (The Hamilton Inn, The Embankment, the soon-to-open 9th and Coles) in offering outdoor seating — and just in time for summer.
The restaurant is seeking two code variances at the next meeting of Jersey City’s Board of Adjustment to create a sidewalk cafe with 16 seats on Pavonia Avenue.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 15, at 6 pm in council chambers on the second floor of City Hall.
