About 400 people turned out for Liberty Humane Society (LHS) and Jersey City’s 2nd annual Pet Ownership Day this Sunday in front of City Hall. LHS development director Janet Russell says the event raised about $2,500 for the shelter while giving out approximately 250 rabies shots, 70 microchips and dozens of nail clippings. In addition, city Animal Control officials were on hand to give out new or renewal dog licenses to residents.

Next up for LHS is a low-cost vaccination program starting May 1 at its on-site spay/neuter clinic, and a low-cost spay/neuter ($85 per small dog or cat) program as well. For more info, call 201-546-4147.

This event was very minimal compared to the one held last year.
