PHOTOS: Inaugural Jersey City Ward Tour
By Jon Whiten • May 24th, 2010 • Category: Blog, NewsOn Sunday, more than 500 cyclists turned out for Bike JC’s first-ever Jersey City Ward Tour, a 10-mile bike ride around the city. A ride organizer said Sunday that there were no major crashes along the route, and a number of people we spoke to pointed to the turnout as proof that Jersey City’s cycling culture is on the rise.
Riders left Exchange Place at 11 am and began arriving back there around 12:30 pm. Upon return, they were greeted by a festival with live music from The One and Nines and the Subway Surfers, a BMX demo from Grove Street Bicycles, a bike rodeo from the Jersey City Police Department, giveaways (including a cool cruiser from Hamilton Square) and a number of local bike-friendly organizations (including this one).
