Red Bull Air Race Test Flights Start Today

By • Jun 15th, 2010 • Category: Blog, News

As the Red Bull Air Race prepares to take over the airspace between Jersey City and New York this weekend, test flights that will last for the rest of the week are beginning today, according to both the New York City and Jersey City Offices of Emergency Management.

Officials say small planes will be flying at low altitude on the Hudson River and in the New York Harbor area, and they will be sometimes emitting visible smoke, which is par for the course and no reason to be alarmed.

The planes will be taking off at Linden Airport and coming up to the area from the south. The race is scheduled for Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20.
