PHOTOS: Red Bull Air Race Roars Over the Hudson

Despite the heat and humidity, thousands of spectators gathered in Liberty State Park on Saturday and Sunday to take in the latest leg of the Red Bull Air Race, a worldwide traveling competition that stopped in Jersey City this weekend for this year’s fifth set of races.

This weekend’s big winner was the United Kingdom’s Paul Bonhomme, whose first-place finish cemented his five-point overall lead over his nearest competitor, Austria’s Hannes Arch. But fellow Brit Nigel Lamb and American Kirby Chambliss are still in the running with respective second- and third-place finishes this weekend that keep them in the top five overall.

Whether they’re following the standings or were just there for the show, the spectators sure got an eyeful. And JCI‘s Steve Gold and Frank Maiello were there to show you what the excitement looked like.
