- Public Outcry Over Street Violence: More than 300 people attended a rally last night at the Montgomery Gardens housing complex, where a 5-year-old girl was shot last Friday. Meanwhile, the bullet surgically removed on Monday from the victim’s neck is now in the hands of the New Jersey State Police for ballistics testing.

- Will the Neus Keep Donating to Liberty Humane? Following the abrupt firing of Liberty Humane Society’s executive director, the Neus — who are a major donors — say they aren’t sure they will continue to fund the animal shelter if it moves away from a “no-kill” policy.

- Man Drowns in Hudson: A 30-year-old man who had been drinking on the Downtown waterfront jumped into the Hudson River and drowned late Wednesday night.

- Human Bones in Lincoln Park? What appears to be a human bone was excavated in Lincoln Park in Jersey City yesterday by workers using earth moving machinery to construct a new golf course.

- ARC Tunnel to Get More Federal $: The Senate Appropriations Committee has endorsed providing a total of $206 million to help fund the proposed rail tunnel between New Jersey and NYC. The funds will be included in the fiscal year 2011 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill, which will next be considered by the full Senate by the fall.

- Incomplete Public Art: Techno Echo, an an interactive sculpture near Liberty State Park, has sat in the same spot under a turnpike overpass since late 1999. But it is still not completed, and the artist, Daniel Nauke, is threatening to remove it.

- ‘Glut’ or ‘Excess’? The Post assesses the state of Jersey City’s high-end condo market.

- ‘Design Star’ in JC: HGTV’s Design Star will feature Donald Trump Jr. as a guest judge on Sunday’s episode at the Trump Plaza Residences in Jersey City.

In Statewide News:

- Where’s Our Recovery? The New York Federal Reserve Bank says New Jersey has yet to see any strong signs of economic recovery, even as the rest of the region has started to pull out of the recession. While neighboring New York has rebounded strongly since late last year, New Jersey appears to have hit bottom and plateaued, according to the bank’s economic indicators.

- Labor Holding Out on Donations to Lawmakers: With many Democratic lawmakers willing to play ball with Gov. Christie in enacting pension changes and a property tax cap, the state’s largest public workers union is taking a wait-and-see approach on future contributions.

- Half-Day Kindergarten: Feeling the pressure from state budget cuts, many school districts in New Jersey are switching from full-day to half-day kindergarten.

- ACLU Asks Attorney General to Look into Shooting: The American Civil Liberties Union has requested the state Attorney General’s Office investigate last weekend’s fatal shooting of an unarmed Georgia man by an Essex County sheriff’s officer inside a park.

- NJ Says No to Midwest Wind: In a battle likely to be played out later this summer, the governors of 11 states along the eastern seaboard and 10 big utilities are opposing efforts to build a series of new transmission lines that would send wind-generated electricity east from the Dakotas and elsewhere.

- Lautenberg Weighs in on Women’s Health $: U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg has weighed in on the issue of $7.5 million in health clinic funds cut from New Jersey’s budget, urging Gov. Christie to restore the money in a letter sent Thursday.
