Hudson County Gets $8.5M in Federal Housing Money
By Jon Whiten • Jul 28th, 2010 • Category: Blog, NewsHudson County will receive $8,559,645 in federal money from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez announced today.
As part of more than $24 million being doled out around the state, Hudson County is set to get $4,083,473 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, $4,311,069 from the HOME Investment Partnership and $165,103 in Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) money. The CDBG and HOME money will be used to develop decent and affordable housing, enhance infrastructure and develop economic opportunities, while the ESG funds go towards providing homeless people with basic shelter and other services.
“This funding will help revitalize our communities and help ensure everyone in New Jersey, including the most vulnerable, have access to housing within their means,” Menendez says. “It is also an investment that will help create additional jobs and economic opportunities for our families in these difficult economic times.”
