Help Wanted: We’re Looking for a Food Writer

By • Aug 16th, 2010 • Category: Blog, Food

The Jersey City Independent and NEW Magazine are looking for a food writer to cover the growing dining scene and food-related news in New Jersey’s second-largest city.

The ideal candidate will have some journalism experience and a keen interest in the restaurants/bars industry and broader food-related issues. The position will entail writing long-form features, short blog items that break news, and everything in between. Applicants should be eager to develop a beat and take ownership of it, rather than simply be assigned and turn in stories. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to rack up clips in a variety of forms while immersing themselves in a robust food scene.

The job is a part-time freelance gig, and it comes with a modest flat monthly salary.

To apply, please send at least one writing sample or clip, along with a resume and a cover letter to Jon Whiten at jwhiten (at) gmail.com. No phone calls please. (Here’s a hint: the cover letter is our first impression; make it count.)
