Several Jersey City Organizations Get State Arts Council Funds

The New Jersey Council on the Arts today awarded more than $15 million in grants to nearly 800 organizations, artists and projects, including the troubled Jersey City Museum and four other institutions based in Jersey City.
The council awarded the following grants to local institutions for Fiscal Year 2011:
- Jersey City Museum: $77,211 for general operating support
- Thomas A. Edison Media Arts Consortium: $15,928 for general program support
- The Kennedy Dancers: $15,000 for general operating support
- Actors Shakespeare Company at NJCU: $13,642 for general program support
- Schola Cantorum on Hudson: $9,630 for for general operating support
In addition, the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs received a matching grant of $101,279 to fund local arts programs, many of which take place in Jersey City.
Union City’s Park Theatre Performing Arts was the only other Hudson County arts organization to receive a grant.
