Urban League of Hudson County to Host Healthcare Reform Roundtable

In order to provide community members with an opportunity to learn about the impact of federal healthcare reform, the Urban League of Hudson County has organized a roundtable discussion on the subject.

The event will take place Monday at the Urban League’s headquarters at 253 Martin Luther King Drive in Jersey City. A light breakfast will be served at 9 a.m. and the discussion will begin at 9:45.

According to Wilmarie Padilla, resource and referral coordinator for the Urban League, the discussion will cover “how the federal reform is affecting all of us,” from infants to the elderly.

Scheduled to appear at the roundtable are Dr. Jaime Torres, the US Department of Health’s regional director for New Jersey and New York, Kellie Drakeford, deputy state director for US Sen. Robert Menendez and a representative from AARP, a national advocacy organization for the aged.

Padilla says that this event is the first of its kind being held to address federal healthcare reform; additional roundtables may be held if the feedback from this one is positive.

No RSVP is necessary to attend this event. It is open to the public and free of charge.
