PHOTOS: 10th Annual Jersey City Pride Festival
By Vanessa Cubillo • Aug 30th, 2010 • Category: Arts, Blog, NewsJersey City Lesbian + Gay Outreach’s (JCLGO) 10th annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival was this year accompanied by the first-ever Pride March. Both went off Saturday without a hitch as the LGBT community and supporters enjoyed near-perfect weather to celebrate how far they’ve come — and take stock of where they still have to go — in their fight for equality. Throughout the day, performers like AmberRose Marie and Lady Clover Honey took the main stage at Exchange Place while independent vendors, support groups, clubs, and food stands lined Montgomery Street. Despite several anti-gay activist groups showing up to protest, the pride of the community outshone any negativity cast on the proceedings.
