Group Plans Candlelight Vigil at Liberty Humane Thursday

The Facebook group Liberty Humane Society Uncensored, which was created in the wake of the recent turmoil at the Jersey City animal shelter, is organizing a candlelight vigil this Thursday “to mourn the inexcusable deaths of our communities [sic] dogs and cats.”
Liberty Humane says it has euthanized 26 dogs in recent weeks; critics contend the shelter has been unnecessarily killing animals just to make more space, since the state has said the shelter is too crowded.
The vigil is scheduled for 5 pm on Thursday outside Liberty Humane Society, 235 Jersey City Blvd.
