Two Changes on the Downtown Fitness Scene: Maximum Motion Fitness Moves, SunMoon Yoga Opens in Former SS Yoga Spot

If you walked down Grove Street in Downtown Jersey City over the weekend, you may have noticed a new establishment on the east side of the street just north of the PATH plaza. But the “new” workout studio, Maximum Motion Fitness, isn’t really new at all — it has just moved to 340 Grove St. from its previous location on Montgomery Street across from City Hall.

“The space is twice the size of our current studio and we will have a shower, individual dressing rooms and a reception area,” Maximum Motion Fitness trainer Kim Jeblick says in an email announcement. The new location opened September 3, and will celebrate the new space with an Grand Opening celebration during this week’s JC Fridays (Friday, September 10) from 6:30 to 8:30pm. The studio is keeping the same phone number (201-985-9114) and web contact information.

Meanwhile, another Downtown fitness venue is celebrating new ownership and a new name with another JC Fridays reception. The Monmouth Street studio formerly known as SS Yoga is reopening as SunMoon Yoga, and it is celebrating with a wine/cheese/music reception for Process Oriented, a new exhibition by Jersey City artists Nicole Poko and Katie Niewodowski, Friday, September 10 at 7 pm. SunMoon, which is at 413 Monmouth Street, will be offering opening night specials of 3- and 6-month unlimited yoga for $399 and $599, respectively. And the first six people to sign up for either package Friday night will receive a 20-ounce SunMoon Yoga aluminum sports bottle.
