Folks from the Hudson County Jaycees volunteer organization and Atlantic Coast Media Group teamed up with the Jersey City and Hoboken Housing Authorities yesterday to pass out 350 turkeys to local public-housing residents. The event was the first of what organizers say will become an annual occasion.

The volunteers were joined by Sen. Bob Menendez and Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy at the Jersey City Housing Authority (JCHA) senior residential building at 88 Erie Street, before continuing on to the JCHA’s Curries Woods facility and two locations in Hoboken.

“Tom [Shipley] and I feel that a great way to express our thanks at growing to 350 employees is to donate 350 turkeys to the community for Thanksgiving,” Atlantic Coast Media Group’s Andrew Surwilo says. “This is only the beginning of our partnership with outstanding civic organizations like the Jaycees as we continue to look for opportunities to help our neighbors here in Hudson County.”
