This Sunday, a coalition of local groups are holding a blanket/sleeping bag drive to help Jersey City’s homeless survive through the coming winter. The drive, spearheaded by Jersey City Peace Movement, Action 21, Anakbayan and community activist Riaz Wahid, will take place in the Journal Square PATH station on Sunday from noon to 2 pm, and you can drop off any donations beforehand at a number of locations.
All used blankets or bags must be clean and packed in a plastic bag; here are the drop-off locations:
- Topex Electronics (India Square; 818 Newark Ave.)
- MaMa Mia Frank’s Famous Pizzeria (Downtown; 415 1/2 Monmouth St.)
- Raphs Plaza (McGinley Square; 709 Bergen Ave.)
- Shield of Faith Ministries of Jersey (Lincoln Park; 314 Duncan Ave.)
- Action 21 (The Heights; 107 Hutton St.)
- Third Door Pentecostal Church (The Heights; 156 Webster Ave.)
For more information, contact Riaz Wahid at 201-669-7608 or riazonroad (at) yahoo.com.
