VIDEO: Wild Jersey City

Jersey City’s John Dunstan, the filmmaker behind Secret Life of … My Small Urban Backyard who is known to many as an avid chronicler of the urban wildlife environment, has just sent us his latest short, titled Wild Jersey City.

“The film shows hawks, vultures, an osprey, black skimmers and a couple of other species in the city,” he says. “This may be surprising to most residents.”

Indeed, the short film is a very cool reminder of the wildlife that thrives in our urban environs (and it’s put together nicely with narration and music to boot). Check it out:

This video is fantastic! It makes me very proud to see the great improvements that have occurred in our city’s ecosystem. The area by Lincoln Park featured in this video is part of the Hackensack River Watershed. Hackensack Riverkeeper has been a key player in bringing about this improvement in water quality and protecting this important natural resource. We conduct eco-cruises in the Meadowlands, Newark Bay, and on other parts of the river. Please join us! hackensackriverkeeper.org
