A new group art show featuring work from the Rise Up Gallery, a collective for Jersey City artists with disabilities, will be opening in the Rotunda Gallery in City Hall tonight, Thursday, December 8th, from 6 pm – 9 pm. The show will double as a fundraiser, with proceeds going towards Quality of Life grants that help people with paralysis as well as grants for institutions looking to cure paralysis. Some proceeds will go towards the creation of an Adaptive Community Art Space.

“The arts are a vital part of Jersey City’s growth and progress,” Mayor Healy said in a statement. “Artists contribute to our economic revitalization by stimulating commerce and helping communities retain their vibrancy. This particular show, however, is an opportunity for us to support an amazing cause and make a positive impact on someone living with paralysis.”

Artists in the show include David McCauley, Kasey Tarauj, Jay Liesener, Isabell Villacis, Laurie Kammer and Kenneth Martin. The gallery will be open from 8 am – 8 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 11 am – 4 pm on the weekend.
