Kids and Artists Teaming Up for ChalkFest at Exchange Place Plaza

Kids and artists will come together on Thursday for the York Street Project’s annual ChalkFest.

During the sidewalk chalk art festival, about 75 kids from the Nurturing Place, York Street’s child development center for homeless and homeless-transitioned children aged 4 months to 6 years, will unleash their creativity at Exchange Place Plaza.

The kids will decorate 5′ by 7′ mural spaces on the plaza floor with help from local artists and volunteers from area businesses.

There will also be music, games and refreshment carts with free hot dogs, drinks and Italian ices.

The event will take place on Thursday from 12 pm to 2 pm, with a rain date on Friday. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. There will also be t-shirts for purchase. All proceeds directly support York Street Project’s programs to help women and children break the cycle of poverty.
