Calling all artists!

With the 23rd Annual Cathedral Arts Festival nearing (it’s slated for November 3), organizers are searching for original works in any medium on any subject matter for the show.

All work must somehow pertain to this year’s theme, “Spirit of Community,” the spirit that organizers say brings together artists, supporters, congregation, and neighborhood for this event. Curators ask that all submissions be new to the festival and their gallery space, Grace Church Van Vorst at Erie and Second streets. Submitted works should also not have been recently exhibited at a local venue.

Curators ask that all works be reasonably priced; artists will receive 60 percent of each sale, with the other portion benefiting Grace Church and Grace Van Vorst Community Services.

Artists should submit up to six 72-dpi JPGs or prints of their work along with their name and contact information, a one-page resume as well as the title, medium, dimensions and price of the work. Submissions should be emailed to caf-art[at]gracevanvorst.org or dropped off at the church before September 20. Work can also be mailed to Grace Church Van Vorst, Attention: CAF 23 Artwork Submissions, 39 Erie St., Jersey City, NJ, 07302.

Accepted artists will be notified on or before October 10. Accepted artwork must be delivered ready to install, with hardware included, to Grace Church either on October 19th between 6 pm and 9 pm or on October 20th between 9 am to 11 am. For more information, call 201-659-2211 or visit the church website.

The festival is also looking for volunteers to help with art selection or graphic design or to join the food and beverage team. For more information, email caf[at]gracevanvorst.org.
