Newport Centre Mall Hosting Breast Cancer Survivor Fashion Show, Other ‘Pink’ Activities

Newport Centre Mall kicked off their Paint the Mall Pink campaign for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month yesterday, along with other Simon Property Group shopping centers in the region.

The first in a series of events in the month-long program was yesterday’s unveiling of the Tree of Hope in the mall’s Center Court. Here, shoppers can write messages of hope on pink tags and hang them on the tree.

“This is our way of addressing this very important health issue that affects so many women and families,” said Jill Daniel, Newport Mall’s director of marketing and business development. She adds that the program will stress the importance of early detection and help people find relevant community resources.

On Saturday, Oct. 6, kids in the Simon Kidgits Club will participate in pink-themed crafts and activities from 12 pm to 2 pm in Center Court.

Next Saturday, Oct. 13, Macy’s Court will host the Fashion Walk of Hope featuring breast cancer survivors who will model the latest fashions available at Macy’s, with makeup provided by Sephora and hair styling by Broadway Hair Care. The show will be held at 2 pm.

Throughout October, shoppers can get free pink ribbon pins at Guest Services. Those who purchase $50 or more in American Express Simon gift cards at Guest Services can receive a complimentary totes bag. Both offers will be effective while supplies last. Select Newport Mall stores with pink decals on their store windows will also offer Paint the Mall Pink discounts on select merchandise and services during October.
