Maritime Parc Donating Part of Christmas Pie & December Restaurant Sales to Liberty State Park’s Sandy Recovery

Maritime Parc restaurant is helping raise money for the restoration of the park it calls home, Liberty State Park (LSP).

After Hurricane Sandy, in LSP was devastated and reportedly the worst-hit of Hudson County’s major parks. The park has been mostly closed to visitors since the storm on Oct. 29. As of publication, only the 9/11 Memorial, the Grove of Remembrance and certain passive recreation portions of the park are currently open to the public.

To help LSP rebuild, Maritime Parc will donate half of the proceeds from the sales of their Christmas pies as well as 10 percent of its December restaurant sales to the Friends of Liberty State Park. They launched a similar initiative for Thanksgiving.

Customers can choose from the following $30 10-inch pies: sour cream apple crumb, chocolate pecan and lemon meringue. There are also $8 homemade ice cream pints available in eggnog, peppermint candy cane swirl and coffee chocolate crunch.

To order a pie, visit their website or call 201-413-0090. Orders should be placed by 6 pm on Saturday, Dec. 22; pickups can be made Sunday, Dec. 23 between 10:30 am and 5 pm.

LSP has an information desk open in the lobby of Liberty Science Center from 9 am to 4 pm, Tuesday through Sunday, where visitors can obtain information about the park, areas open to the public and the rebuilding process. The telephone number to reach park staff is 201-413-0050.

On a related note, Maritime Parc is holding a New Year’s Eve Party on the Hudson with two seatings in their restaurant. At 6 pm, guests can have a three-course prix fixe meal with a glass of sparkling included for $75. At 9 pm, they can get a five-course prix fixe for $125.

There will be an all-night party on their third-floor aviary with cocktail-style dinner buffets, passed sweets, an open bar and a DJ spinning hot dance tracks. Admission is $175; discounted prices are available for guests who also have dinner at Maritime Parc during NYE.

Maritime Parc is located at 84 Audrey Zapp Drive.
