Hamilton Square Businesses Holding Spring Blossom Party
Several small businesses at Hamilton Square are banding together to bring in the season tomorrow with a Spring Blossom Party.
At the event, which is cosponsored by all the shops and businesses at Hamilton Square, guests will enjoy music, wine, refreshments, free massages from Evolve|Revolution and more. There will also be a raffle with prizes from local businesses like Art House Productions, DOCO Market and Café, Hazel Baby, Hound About Town, GP’s Restaurant, Madame Claude Wine, Smith and Chang General Goods and Sophie Sophia. Drawing is at 7 pm.
Husband and wife Donovan and Elizabeth Cain, owners of pet store Hound About Town and child boutique Hazel Baby, live in the Hamilton Park area and often patronize some of their neighbor businesses. Overall, they say all the shops regularly support each other.
“Sometimes we might not have what someone is looking for, but we can always recommend another business. We see people coming in every day with bags from other businesses. We also happen to be friends with many of the other business owners, and naturally we support those establishments as well,” they said in a statement.
Hamilton Health and Fitness directors Genevieve Faulkner and Christie Freeman say the entire area is a one-stop shop. “We are here for each other for the little things…cupcakes for staff birthdays from Sophie Sophia, employee gifts for the holidays from Smith and Chang and Madame Claude Wines, lunches at DoCo and celebrating at GP’s. We love being part of a community that supports each other.”
Alex Chang, says his store, Smith and Chang General Goods, is “inspired by America’s general stores of old” and that “this kind of collaborative community event, led by a group of local retailers, is done in that spirit.”
Other businesses that are part of the event are SILVERMAN, Hamilton Park Montessori School, Ingrid K Studio, Jersey City Art School, Newport Pharmacy and Next Step Broadway.
The Spring Blossom Party will be held tomorrow, May 17, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm in Hamilton Square at Ninth and Erie streets located near Hamilton Park.
