LGBT Pride Festival and Week Returns to Jersey City

The 14th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon to 6 pm. This year’s festivities will take place on Grove Street in front of City Hall.

Lady Clover Honey will be the ‘Empress of Ceremonies.’ According to Hudson Pride’s website, Honey is “one of the most versatile, Drag Queen, Television and Comedy personalities…As an MC and hostess she adds both panache and humor to many notable events like the Fresh Fruit Festival and Original GLBT Expo at the Javitz Center in New York City.”

The entertainment lineup includes:  Lola (aka Dakini9), George Soul, and Danny Krivit. Lola’s DJ style is deep house, techno, and ambient interludes. George Soul, one of Jersey City’s original DJs, style includes: Latin, funk, soul, and house. Special Guest Danny Krivit, who is celebrating 43 years as a New York City DJ and has played at such venues as Tracks, Palladium, Sound Factory Bar, Twilo, and The Loft, style includes house, soul and much more.

The 2014 Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival is being hosted by both Hudson Pride Connections Center and Humanity Pride Productions. There will be vendors selling food, clothing, jewellery and more.

Admission to Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival event is free.

A week of LGBT-focused events has been planned to gear up for this year’s festival. Jersey City LGBT Pride Week started this past weekend with a special screening of Gen Silent as part of the Jersey City International Television and Film Festival and a Drag Brunch that had held at 9th & Coles Tavern.

While many of the Jersey City LGBT Pride Week activities are free, the events are accepting donations to support Hudson Pride Connections Center.
