It’s not every day that a co-leader of the Dead Milkmen plays in Jersey City, but it does appear to be happening more and more frequently. Joe Jack Talcum’s show with local faves Any Day Parade at the Iron Monkey on Friday, March 5 was in fact his second appearance (so far) at a JC Fridays event.

Back in December, we reported that the folks that run the Iron Monkey were thinking about hosting shows in a space adjacent to the restaurant in an effort to bring more live music to the city. The first show on New Year’s Eve was apparently successful enough to convince them to go full steam ahead.

In 2006 and 2007, the Iron Monkey was regularly featuring shows on Friday and Saturday nights, and sometimes had shows on their roof deck as well. That all ended earlier this year, when the restaurant brought over famed chef Ian Kapitan (formerly of Marco & Pepe) and transitioned to more of a fine-dining experience.
