Nestled on an industrial side street a few hundred yards from the stately Brennan Courthouse, Pearl Studios has long been a sanctuary for rock bands in need of a place to practice. Recently, it’s started renting out its largest studio — which has been outfitted with a stage, lighting, and concert sound equipment — so bands can put on their own shows.
When most people think of Tuesday in Jersey City, they don’t think of rock ‘n’ roll. But Lucky 7 Tavern (full disclosure: yes, I work there folks) has become a bit of a rock haven on Tuesdays with its weekly Songwriter Showcase — one of the few places you can still catch up with local music in this fair city.
